Noticed a small coolant leak on way home from work which turned out to be a split in one of the small hoses, decided at this point to upgrade the top end of the engine with either new stock or new after market parts this consisted of; Both heads skimmed to raise compression All valves removed and polished All ports cleaned New full gasket set New valve stem oil seals New cam shaft oil seals New cam belt & tensioners New water pump New alloy racing radiator New radiator cap Block flushed and treated New fuel filter Replaced fuel injectors New NGK spark plugs New thermostat These are just the parts I have replaced and upgraded since I have had the car I also have receipts from its previous owner including; New alloy wheels Custom made stainless steal exhaust Gear box replaced at 50,000 miles with brand new Mitsubishi unit Additional gear box cooler MK2 facelift conversion LED lighting upgrade This is just a small list of the receipts I have for the car. Unfortunately the car has developed a bit of a misfire when pulling away and due to my circumstance I just don’t have the time to look at this. This GTO has been heavilly modified with a Supercharger and intercooler that will potentially produce 600bhp+ The charger alone cost £3500 3 years ago...>

so whoever buys this car will be bagging a bargain. The car itself does need some work to get it to this high performance level a project that I was going to do but got suspended due to an increase in my family!!! All work has been done by proffesionals not some grease monkey with a spanner. It is four wheel steer and four wheel drive so handles fantasticly. New Alloys and tyres less than 2000miles ago also new exhaust, battery and brakes in the last 12 months. Some cosmetic work needed around the car both inside and out but in all a great car that I will be sorry to see go. This car will need some work on the autobox and ignition as these are the only probs however the autobox was fully strenghtened in prep for the high bhp but has gone wrong just out of warranty. The ignition works most the time but every now and then doesnt needs just a new switch so I am told. Please note this car drives has tax and mot to October so can be driven away or I will deliver but will charge for time and fuel. This car is running around 350bhp at the moment and has pods in the car showing fuel mixture and boost pressure nice boys toys or girls!! I am putting this in with a low reserve but have had it up for sale and was offered £2750.00 however the guy who tried to purchase was unable to get insurance! X

They resurrected the GTO name, and the car went on to serve as Mitsubishi’s flagship for the remainder of the decade. However, despite the cachet of the badge at home, it was known as the Mitsubishi 3000GT outside Japan; the company was concerned that connoisseurs would object to the evocative nameplate from the highly regarded Ferrari 250 GTO and Pontiac GTO being used on a Japanese vehicle. However, regardless of its badge or eventual target market, every car was built on the same production line at Mitsubishi's plant in Nagoya, Japan.[2] A Dodge Stealth was initially to be used as a pace car for the 1991 Indianapolis 500 race. The United Auto Workers (UAW), however, did not like the idea of a Japanese-manufactured car being a pace car for the race, and a prototype Dodge Viper was substituted.[3] [edit] 1990–1993 The first generation incorporated many of Mitsubishi's contemporary performance-enhancing technologies, such as full time four-wheel drive, four-wheel steering, active aerodynamics featuring automatically-adjusting front and rear spoilers, sport/tour exhaust modes and electronically controlled suspension (ECS).[4] Visually, the cars featured pop-up headlights and noticeable "caps" on the hood to accommodate the ECS controllers at the top of the strut turrets. The caps on the hood were replaced with integrated blisters, and the side air vents and rear bumpers were modified. The interior was redesigned with dual air bags, a new audio system, and revised air conditioning refrigerant. The engines in all models received a slight boost in torque from 307 lb·ft (416 N·m) to 315 lb·ft (427 N·m). To complement this, the VR-4 now included a six-speed Getrag manual transmission. Bigger wheel/tire combinations were provided beginning in 1995. The base and SL model received 16" wheels in silver or chrome with 225/55 tires, while the VR4 now had 18" chrome wheels with 245/40 tires (the Spyder had the standard 17" with higher profile tires from 1994 to handle the additional 400 lb (180 kg)). As the price of the cars increased, many of the "gadgets" on the car were discontinued. The tunable exhaust was phased out after model year 1994, the ECS disappeared after the 1995 model year, and the active aerodynamics disappeared after 1996. Finally, Chrysler ceased sales of the Dodge Stealth captive import, and for the remainder of its life only Mitsubishi-badged versions were available. In 1995 and 1996, special edition retractable hardtop convertible models of the 3000GT SL and VR-4 were sold in the USA. Customized by ASC in California, these cars had retractable hardtops which could be opened or closed at the touch of a button. It was the first of its kind in America since the 1957–59 Ford Skyliner, and although it was abandoned after two years because of slow sales (1618 units), it presaged a market which would eventually mature the following year with the Mercedes SLK. Slower sales in the American sports car market led to a planned facelift for 1997 being abandoned in favor of minor cosmetic adjustments, including a new front bumper and hoop wing. The Colt Galant GTO exterior was penned by Hiroaki Kamisago, who had previously been sent by Mitsubishi to study at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California, it incorporated many stylistic cues from contemporary American muscle cars like the Mustang, Firebird and Cougar, including a long hood, raised cut-off ducktail rear, and rounded quad-headlamps and tail-lamps. It was also the first Japanese passenger car to have full, roll down, side windows and a pillarless design. Mitsubishi Racing Development (AKA Colt Speed) intended the Colt Galant GTO to compete in the prestigious JCCA Grand Prix circuit. However, the OPEC oil embargo of 1973 sounded the demise of GP racing, so the GTO race program was mothballed. Nevertheless, GTO's were successful in Rallying, including the famous Japanese Alpine Rally. Initially, there were three Colt Galant GTO models offered, all powered by the Saturn engine: the M1 (1600 cc SOHC, 4-speed), M2 (1,600 cc SOHC, 5-speed) and the top-spec MR (1,600 cc twin-carb, DOHC 5-speed), a 125 horsepower (93 kW) version only available in Japan. In 1972 Mitsubishi upgraded the power plants with their new Astron units. The range now consisted of the LS (2,000 cc single-carb, automatic transmission), GS (2,000 cc twin-carb, 5-speed manual) and GS-R (2,000 cc twin-carb, 5-speed manual). They were also given a mild facelift to distinguish them, comprising a one-piece slats-type grille and three-piece tail lights. Additionally, the 125 hp (93 kW) GS-R had wider 185-section tires, flared guards and a black-painted rear panel between the lights. There was a second styling tweak in 1974 when the car gained a honeycomb-style front grille. The last Colt Galant GTO's produced gained the Astron 80 engine with Mitsubishi's Silent Shaft system. After relatively long production run, the GTO was finally replaced by Galant Lambda/Sapporo in December 1976, although production continued into 1977.[1] [edit] Export Mitsubishi chose not to aggressively export the Colt Galant GTO. Besides the home market of Japan, few examples (all right hand drive) were sold abroad. Most were distributed to New Zealand, and smaller numbers ended up in various Asian countries. Surviving examples are uncommon. [edit] GTO name revived After Colt Galant GTO production ceased in 1977, the name lay dormant for 13 years, but it retained sufficient cachet that Mitsubishi resurrected it for their flagship Mitsubishi GTO sports GT in 1990. However, in order to avoid offending automotive connoisseurs, who might have objected to the evocative nameplate from the highly regarded Ferrari 250 GTO (1962) and Pontiac GTO (1964) being used on a Japanese vehicle, it was renamed to Mitsubishi 3000GT overseas.
